YEA! I get to keep my condo

The fates have smiled on me. My condo was on the market for a little over a month with no offers, so I decided to make it available for lease. I guess that's been about 2 weeks ago. Well, today I signed off as landlord on a 12 month lease! My tenant is moving in on May 17, and I didn't even have to change the colors -- as I was being urged to do in order to sell. What IS all this BS that has been started by HGTV and DIY network, where homes only sell when painted neutral colors and then the first thing a new owner has to do upon move in to make it more homey is add some color! When I bought my condo, it was painted "warm" neutral colors -- well, if you consider baby-poo yellow a neutral, anyway -- and I could not wait to get in there and paint it shades of blues and purples. Yeah, I know... I'm on the lunatic fringe; always have been, always will be. But still, if something is tastefully done, the average person should be able to appreciate it, right?

My "Sapphire Lace" kitchen at the condo

In fact, I liked the colors I chose so well, I've reused them in the Cangarew house. We haven't gotten around to using the Sapphire Lace in the kitchen yet, but it's coming - although "Cobalt Glaze" is also a consideration. My bedroom is Gothic Amethyst again, and all the common rooms are Oak Ridge (my "noncommittal" but not "neutral" color).

So anyway, off my soapbox and back onto the subject -- I get to keep my condo while somebody else basically makes the mortgage payments for me! O Happy Day!

On another note... recently (in the past couple of months) I have been upset with some family members over financial matters -- mostly their inabilities to maintain a steady income, and lack of responsible planning, and then coming to me repeatedly for bail-outs, thus threatening MY financial stability -- and being able to do so -- because I plan and live responsibly for the most part while they lollygag around, doing and spending as they please. Well today, all I can really say is that, hey, at least their problems didn't originate with gambling losses, and I just thought the price tag on my family's troubles was big. Some people just never learn their lesson.
