Hallowank...

Well... THAT was disappointing. My first Halloween in a real neighborhood with a real yard. I wanted to decorate more in the front yard, but the participation and enthusiasm just wasn't there after Ike, I guess. Not even one pumpkin was purchased, so obviously, no jackolanterns. Even my costume was somewhat less than I had originally envisioned. In the end, I just didn't have the time and creativity to put into it to make it what I wanted, and what should have been easy catface makeup application turned into a 3 hour ordeal of failure, causing a very late arrival to Trix's party I was so looking forward to -- which was spooktacular as always. At least the actual catsuit was still pretty cool though, and hey, I have a whole year to try again. Also did not get to see my granddaughter in her costume. Again, oh well...maybe next year.

But by far, the biggest waste of time and money...had to go out of my way to stop by Target Friday afternoon (when I should have been putting the finishing touches on my costume) and stock up on candy for the wandering mob of trick-or-treaters we were expecting to stop by. I must have blown at least $30 and 30 minutes desperately seeking and outgrabbing all the other last minute shoppers, what candy was left in the seasonal department.

After all that hassle, we had ONE trick-or-treater, who wasn't even wearing a costume -- the poor thing -- who came by far too early, before dusk even, while I was still sitting in my robe, finishing up my dinner. We were totally unprepared at that point, and by the time we made ourselves decent enough to open the door, he was gone.

All this candy...for nothing!

This is what is left even after John has gorged himself past the point of contentment. Oddly enough, I made a point of not getting candy I would be overly tempted to eat myself, so... WTF am I going to do with it? Hmmm. Guess I'll take it to work like most other people and make everybody there fat. I just have to wonder WHY nobody came trick-or-treating on our block?

Well I only had 8 or so of them... or so I'm told... I didn't even get to see them because someone else answered the door! BOO!!!

I guess that was one nice thing about living in the burbs... we had loads of trick-or-treaters!

FYI... My mountains of candy are now in the office kitchen!
