Ooooh Pretty....

Yea! The pool is in and functioning at Cangarew Court. Although, as it turns out, it is not yet ready for group swimming. In fact, my beloved SALT WATER pool is in actuality a chlorine pool for the first two weeks of its life. WTF? Nobody told me that was how it worked. But apparently, the plaster has to be cured for 10-14 days before the salt can be introduced.

Speaking of the plaster curing...OMG, what a t-total pain in the ass it is to have a new pool. Nobody told me about this little tidbit either -- in order to get rid of mortar residue and excess plaster, I have to brush/sweep/scrub the holy hell out of the entire pool and spa (every square inch) twice a day for 10 days!

Like I friggin' have time for that? However, I guess I will make time, since today when I asked about it -- I was informed that scrubbing would re-expose more of the green flecks in the plaster, and that is what achieves the appearance that the water is the glorious Caribbean Green color I asked for (as it was on Friday when first filled).

Hell of a workout though. And what a cruel joke...I'm "priviledged enough" to afford my own swimming pool, but I have to spend the first 10 days of ownership scrubbing the damn thing like a scullery maid.

There was one very pleasant surprise: the lights! I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about or studying up on pool lights, so I expected plain jane white or just one color lights. Delightfully WRONG! It seems the trend now is to have color-changing lights. Kinda reminds me of the color wheel that goes with my aluminum Xmas tree, so it goes without saying that I'm completely fascinated.

Look, I took a video so you can go "oooh aaaah" too.
